Hand tattoo identifies intruder

On July 20 and 21, 2025, two home intrusion incidents occurred in the Hung Thai 1 and Hung Thai 2 residential areas of Tan Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. After receiving reports, the Phu My Hung Security Team reviewed surveillance footage and realized that both incidents were committed by the same individual – a young man with his face covered.

In the first incident, on July 20, the suspect climbed over the fence into Hung Thai 1 and scaled a tree to reach a first-floor balcony but was unable to enter the house. He then moved to the ground floor, opened two unlocked cars in the yard, stole approximately VND 300,000, and left the scene at 4:35 AM.

The following night, July 21, the same individual broke into a house in Hung Thai 2 through a nearby under-construction building. He rummaged through the property but did not take anything of significant value.

From the surveillance footage, the Phu My Hung Security Team identified a distinctive detail: a small spider tattoo on the suspect’s hand. Images were then circulated among private security teams, neighborhood watch units, and local businesses across the area.

At 7:30 PM on July 23, 2025, staff at a convenience store in Sky Garden 3 recognized the suspect by the distinctive tattoo when he entered the shop. They immediately notified the Phu My Hung Security Team. Security personnel and officers from Tan Hung Ward Police quickly arrived and escorted the individual to headquarters for questioning.

Confronted with clear camera evidence – particularly the tattoo – the suspect admitted to the offenses. He identified himself as W.J. (born in 1991), a foreign national who had entered Vietnam on a tourist visa on July 5. The case is currently under further investigation by local authorities.
